Preamble
Welcome to MovieKnob!
These MovieKnob Terms of Use (this “Agreement”) constitute a binding legal agreement between you and MovieKnob (“MovieKnob”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) governing your access to and use of the MovieKnob website, platform, and all related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Please read this Agreement carefully before using MovieKnob. Pay particular attention to the sections on Disclaimers, Limitation of Liabilities, Intellectual Property, Governing Law, and Dispute Resolution, which are highlighted in bold or capitals. These sections materially affect your legal rights.
By registering for an account, clicking “Agree”, or accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree, please do not access or use MovieKnob.
You must be of the age of majority in your jurisdiction to enter into this Agreement independently. If you are a minor, your parent or legal guardian must review and consent to this Agreement on your behalf.

1. General Terms
1.1 The ServiceMovieKnob is an online platform that provides users with movie and television show information, reviews, curated content, and video streaming. The Service includes all features, content, tools, and functionality available through the MovieKnob website or any associated applications.
1.2 Scope of this Agreement
This Agreement applies to all users of MovieKnob, including Free plan users and Premium plan subscribers. It governs your access to and use of the website, APIs, and any other current or future form of the Service made available by MovieKnob.
1.3 Account Registration
Access to MovieKnob requires you to create an account. When registering, you agree to::
- Provide accurate, complete, and current information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Keep your password confidential and not share it with any third party
- Accept full responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
1.4 Protection of Minors
If you are under the age of 18 (or the applicable age of majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that you have reviewed this Agreement with your parent or legal guardian and that both you and your guardian understand and consent to this Agreement. Parents and guardians who permit a minor to use MovieKnob agree to: (i) supervise the minor's use of the Service; (ii) assume all risks associated with such use; (iii) assume full liability for any breach of this Agreement by the minor; and (iv) ensure the accuracy of all information submitted by the minor.
1.5 Updates to this Agreement
We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time in accordance with applicable laws. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Agreement. If you do not accept the updated terms, you must stop using MovieKnob.
2. Subscription Plans
2.1 Free PlanMovieKnob offers a Free plan that provides limited access to the Service at no charge. Free plan users may access selected movie and TV show information, reviews, and content as made available by MovieKnob from time to time.
2.2 Premium Plan
The Premium plan provides enhanced access to the Service, including but not limited to full streaming access, advanced content features, and an ad-free experience, for a recurring subscription fee. Premium plan details, including pricing and billing cycles, are displayed at the point of purchase.
2.3 Billing and Payment
Premium plan fees are processed through Paystack, our third-party payment provider. By subscribing to the Premium plan, you authorize MovieKnob (via Paystack) to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis until cancelled.
All fees are non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law. We reserve the right to modify pricing with reasonable prior notice.
2.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain Premium access until the end of the paid period, after which your account will revert to the Free plan.
2.5 Changes to Plans
We reserve the right to modify, add, or discontinue any subscription plan or feature at any time with reasonable notice. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
3. Permitted License and Use
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, MovieKnob grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not include any right to:
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit any part of the Service or its content
- Reproduce, distribute, or publicly display any content from the Service without authorization
- Use any automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or extract data from the Service
- Frame or mirror any part of the Service on any other website or platform
4. Restrictions on Use
When using MovieKnob and the Service, you must not:
- Upload, post, or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, its servers, or any connected systems
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of any part of the Service
- Introduce viruses, malware, or any other malicious or harmful code into the Service
- Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the platform
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security or access control features of the Service
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
5. Content and Streaming
5.1 MovieKnob ContentAll movie and television information, reviews, metadata, descriptions, images, and streaming content available through MovieKnob ("Platform Content") is either owned by MovieKnob or licensed from third-party rights holders. You may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, or exploit Platform Content outside of your personal use within the Service.
5.2 Streaming
Streaming access is provided for your personal, non-commercial viewing only. You may not record, download (unless an explicit offline feature is provided), capture, or redistribute any streamed content. Unauthorized recording or distribution of streamed content may constitute copyright infringement and may expose you to civil and criminal liability.
5.3 Content Availability
The availability of specific content on MovieKnob may change at any time due to licensing agreements, regional restrictions, or other factors beyond our control. We do not guarantee the continuous availability of any specific title or content.
5.4 Third-Party Content
Some content displayed on MovieKnob may originate from or link to third-party sources. MovieKnob does not endorse, guarantee, or assume responsibility for third-party content. You access third-party content at your own risk.
6. Intellectual Property
The MovieKnob name, logo, website design, software, and all Platform Content are the intellectual property of MovieKnob or its licensors and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in this Agreement transfers any intellectual property rights to you. You are granted only the limited license set out in Section 3. Any unauthorized use of MovieKnob's intellectual property is strictly prohibited and may result in legal action. If you believe any content on MovieKnob infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at legal@movieknob.com with the following information: a description of the allegedly infringing content, your contact details, and a statement of your rights. We will investigate and respond promptly in accordance with applicable law.
7. Privacy Policy
Your use of MovieKnob is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into this Agreement by reference. The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy. You can review our Privacy Policy at any time within the footer section Privacy Policy.
8. Third-Party Services
MovieKnob may integrate with or link to third-party services, including Paystack for payment processing. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that party's own terms and privacy policy. MovieKnob is not responsible for the practices, content, or reliability of any third-party service.
Any dispute arising from your use of a third-party service is solely between you and that third party. MovieKnob disclaims all liability in connection with such disputes.
9. Advertisements
Free plan users may be shown advertisements within the Service. By using the Free plan, you agree to the display of such advertisements. Premium plan users receive an ad-free experience as part of their subscription.
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers. Any advertisements displayed are served in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Service Availability and Updates
We strive to make MovieKnob available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control.
We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. Where changes are material, we will provide reasonable prior notice. Continued use of the Service following any update constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
11. Termination
11.1 Termination by YouYou may terminate this Agreement at any time by deleting your account through your account settings or by contacting us at legal@movieknob.com. Upon termination, your right to access the Service will cease immediately.
11.2 Termination by MovieKnob
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated this Agreement, applicable law, or if we have reason to believe your use poses a risk to other users or the platform.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination for any reason: (i) your license to use the Service is immediately revoked; (ii) we may retain data as required by applicable law; and (iii) any accrued rights and obligations of either party shall survive termination. Sections 6, 12, 13, 14, and 15 of this Agreement shall survive termination indefinitely
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MovieKnob, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (i) your use of the Service; (ii) your breach of this Agreement; (iii) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; or (iv) any infringement by you of the rights of any third party.
13. Disclaimers
13.1 THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. MOVIEKNOB DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
13.2 MOVIEKNOB DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT, INFORMATION, OR MATERIAL AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICE. YOU ACCESS AND USE THE SERVICE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
13.3 MOVIEKNOB DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE AVAILABILITY OF ANY SPECIFIC CONTENT TITLE OR STREAMING QUALITY, WHICH MAY VARY BASED ON YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION, DEVICE, OR REGIONAL LICENSING RESTRICTIONS.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1 TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MOVIEKNOB AND ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM: (I) YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE; (II) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR DATA; (III) CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON OR VIA THE SERVICE; OR (IV) ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO THE SERVICE, HOWEVER CAUSED AND REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.
14.2 IN ANY EVENT, MOVIEKNOB'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING UNDER OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO MOVIEKNOB IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. FREE PLAN USERS ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MOVIEKNOB'S LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain limitations of liability. In such jurisdictions, the above limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
15.1 Governing LawThis Agreement and any disputes arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. The parties agree that this Agreement is deemed to have been entered into in Hong Kong.
15.2 Amicable Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution proceedings, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute with MovieKnob through good-faith negotiation. Either party may initiate this process by sending a written notice describing the dispute to legal@movieknob.com. The parties shall have thirty (30) days from the date of such notice to attempt to resolve the dispute amicably.
15.3 Arbitration
If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within the period specified above, the dispute shall be finally settled by binding arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) in accordance with its administered arbitration rules in force at the time of the arbitration. The seat of arbitration shall be Hong Kong. The arbitration shall be conducted before a single arbitrator. The language of the arbitration shall be English. The arbitral award shall be final and binding and may be entered and enforced in any court of competent jurisdiction.
15.4 Individual Claims Only
You agree to bring any dispute against MovieKnob only in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative action or proceeding.
16. Miscellaneous
16.1 Entire AgreementThis Agreement, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms applicable to specific features of the Service, constitutes the entire agreement between you and MovieKnob regarding your use of the Service and supersedes all prior agreements and understandings.
16.2 Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court or arbitrator of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
16.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of this Agreement at any time shall not be construed as a waiver of our right to enforce that provision or any other provision in the future.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under this Agreement to any third party without our prior written consent. MovieKnob may assign this Agreement, in whole or in part, without restriction and without notice to you, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
16.5 Language
This Agreement is written in English. In the event of any conflict between an English version and a translated version, the English version shall prevail.
16.6 Headings
Section headings in this Agreement are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
